Building a child's reading and writing skills A child's reading and writing skills can be built by following the following steps:  Reading some books aloud to the child, discussing pictures, and events with him. To train the child to use sounds in pronouncing words. Using some types of games designed to teach the alphabet. Provide pencils, colors, and papers for the child to encourage him to draw and doodle, and try to help him form letters correctly to gradually accustom him to acquiring the writing skill. Steps to teach reading to a child There are some steps that can be taken to teach a child to read, which are:  Teaching young people the song of the alphabet and encouraging them to repeat them until they memorize them. Bring cards on which letters are written, so that each letter is separate, in order to present them to the child, and ask him about naming the letter. Buying cards containing some pictures on one side, and on the other side naming them in order to show them to the child, and it is desirable to spell the words with the child letter by letter. Writing some words and repeating them with the child, with the need to make sounds when pronouncing them at the beginning, middle, and end. Read books appropriate to the age of the child, and focus on helping him pronounce different words.
